As technology evolves, organisations across the UK are driven to deliver a better working strategy for their customers.

risual have helped many organisations in almost every vertical ranging from small Borough Councils, City Council’s, Police Forces and all the way to utilities to deliver a compliant and secure remote access solution.

Regardless of which vertical, organisations need to work around the clock which some organisations may need support with – risual have addressed this problem by delivering a remote access solution using the Microsoft’s native tool DirectAccess along with including the use of Celestix Edge Security appliances.

What is Microsoft DirectAccess?

Microsoft DirectAccess allows remote users to access company documentations without connecting to a traditional Virtual Private Network (VPN). An internal network is also known as a private network or intranet. DirectAccess establishes bi-directional connectivity with an internal network every time a DirectAccess-enabled computer connects to the Internet, even before the user logs on. Users never have to think about connecting to the internal network and IT administrators can manage remote computers outside the office, even when the computers are not connected to the VPN.

Who are Celestix and how do they fit into this solution?

Celestix aim to be one of the leaders in providing secure connectivity to the mobile users and distributed offices on both on-premises and the cloud environment. Celestix’s vision is to enable the simple deployment of secure remote access connectivity across the cloud and distributed offices. Celestix is a solution which comes fully integrated and ready to use straight from the box. Time spent integrating and testing white box deployments adds significant costs and delays to deployments.

risual are the only partner in the UK who have access to the CESG scripts now known as the NCSC guidelines. The National Cyber Security Centre have identified that enabling users to work remotely ultimately brings a bit more risk around loss of the devices, theft, tampering or even the loss of the user’s credentials can be a big risk if the solution does not reach certain guidelines.

Each customer we have worked with to deploy DirectAccess had their own individual challenges prior to the new solution, these were all addressed in what we call our design and planning phase in which risual ensure that these are captured these challenges are not faced again.

DirectAccess with the use of Celestix comes with many additional benefits to organisations such as providing a 24/7 solution which is managed on the unique Comet interface built into the Celestix Edge Appliances – this enables IT teams to be able to terminate active sessions. Not only this, by enabling the end users to work remotely, anywhere at any time on any device creates immediate cost savings which will also support the organisation on its digital transformation journey.
