People in Microsoft Viva

This will be a new platform update early in 2023 to the Microsoft Viva suite and will be available as a Microsoft Teams App and part of the Microsoft 365 profile cards.

What does it give the employee?

It helps the employee find and discover connections and expertise, not only individuals but teams as well, across the whole organisation. This is achieved by leveraging the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to link together information, knowledge, goals and expertise so that employees can build and maintain a new hybrid workplace that has evolved and is continuing since the COVID-19 pandemic. Not only does this benefit on improving collaboration throughout the organisation but also opens up people/teams that can be accessed by other parts of the organisations that hold information or expertise in relevant subjects or topics that were previously unknown. Essentially, People in Microsoft Viva brings the organisational browser experience within Microsoft 365 to employees from a single click of an app with additional features which are described in the sections below.

Integrations

integrations with other products from the Viva suite. In particular Viva Topics and Goals. The integrations will allow easy access to discovered information or employees/teams based on their interests, topics and goals from what you are interested in or have been assigned.

Work mode preferences

This capability allows employees to ability to create more inclusive connections when scheduling meetings, networking or connecting up with colleagues by the use of filtering to show employees that are in or out of the office. For example, this view of People can be used to determine whether a physical meeting room might be booked as some of your colleagues are in the office on a certain date and not working remotely.

Team profile

Here employees can get a interconnected view of a team, just like the organisational chart, but with trending topics, their goals as well as team contacts. It is presented in a clear and logical structure with easy access to all the team’s details with easy access to collaboration tools via Teams or Email.

With more organisations wanting a more in-depth, feature rich and self maintaining organisation chart . This maybe just the ticket for employees to build their networks and work more efficiently and it has the added benefits of integrating into other products from the Microsoft Viva range.
