Sometimes, after starting a new job, you never find a common language with colleagues. You feel they do not want to talk with you. Your boss may also be less talkative. Sometimes it is hard to realise what is happening that may make you feel superfluous.

Perhaps occasionally, we need to identify what communication we expect from our colleagues and what topics are communicated with us. Often is essential to show willingness, willingness to share, friendliness, and at least politeness.

Since we cannot read everyone’s thoughts, we often imagine a lot about the situation, but without questioning and clarifications, we will never know the truth.

Therefore, it is helpful to look at yourself to understand: maybe something in us requires attention or a change of approach. Establish communication channels available to you (as these days we work in a more digital environment) where colleagues exchange work information or establish contacts based on friendliness and mutual interest, which helps you work in a team and feel comfortable in the community of colleagues.

Friendship or even closer contacts are already a little beyond the scope of professional communication and require more effort from the participants: trust, sincere involvement, joint leisure, and so on.

So, where do we start? Perhaps from the basics: start smiling, being at work with a relaxed face, literally without straining your muscles, and exude friendliness and openness. You will begin communicating with colleagues if you are patient, attentive, open to communication and determined to listen and talk.

If you want something, make an effort, and you will get it. Initiate communication, learn how to do it so that you succeed, and you will start feeling much better. The main aspect is that you become comfortable. You can influence the situation and turn it to your advantage.
