It’s been a while since the launch of Microsoft Viva Connections and now Microsoft are evolving the employee experience of this product with some upcoming updates and improvements.
New home experience
A visualisation update to the top of the page will be added to display relevant information to the user ranging from critical company news, recommended/critical/required learning courses as well as other promoted information from across the Viva product suite. This update provides a roll up of information from across the company targeted to the employee allowing instant access. It also gives Viva Connections a modern, fresh and engaging look and feel with minimal effort and involvement from IT administrators.
Branding customisation
As part of the new look home experience, options will be available to allow a look and feel that adheres to your company’s branding guidelines. These will include; colours, icons and options for the display name to match your organisation’s identity and provide an instant recognition to the employee of the the company’s brand.
More Dashboard Cards
A new range of dashboard adaptive cards will become available to provide connectivity between the other Viva products. Together with the adaptive cards that are being released by Microsoft 3rd party providers this will give the employee a rich experience directly from the home experience either from their desktop or whilst on the move. The range of cards can be further extending by development of custom cards using the SharePoint Framework (SPFx) to interact with the organisations internal systems.
Feed
Delivery of new extensions to the feed that uses AI (Artificial Intelligence) to deliver personalised content to employees. The update will incorporate content from across Microsoft 365, including new Stories, boosted news stories from communications teams which can be audience targeted to all employees or to a selected group of employees.
Resources
This update will allow employees quick and easy access to the organisations and employee’s frequently used and tagged resources (i.e., frequently visited sites and sites that the employee is currently following). This could either compliment or slim down existing Quick Links web parts or replace them depending on their content and configuration.
Some of these updates are in preview now and will be GA before the end of this year but others, including the new home experience, will be GA in Q1 2023.
