Improving Employee Experience with Viva Insights  

Microsoft Viva Insights is a big element of Microsoft Viva; brining together communications, knowledge, learning, resources into an employee’s experience that encourages them to learn and build their knowledge from home. Viva is especially useful for integrating the apps employees use everyday such as Teams. It derives these insights by summarising your individual Microsoft data such as emails, chats, meetings and calls.  

Viva Insights integrates the Microsoft Teams app and all the tools needed to encourage employees to thrive with data-driven, privacy-protected insights and recommendations to improve productivity of employees along with their wellbeing. Insights allows employees to create better work habits such as following through with all commitments made with clients and giving them the choice to set focus time in the day for interrupted individual work.   

  • Personal Insights- Get personal insights that only you can see. Insights about how you work and what you might change to do your best work, such as in , Viva Insights in teams, in a briefing email in Outlook, or in your personal Dashboard. 
  • Manager Insights – Manager insights give much-needed visibility into work patterns that might lead to burnout and stress. These include regular after-hours work, meeting overload, or too little focus time.  
  • Leader Insights – Leader insights help business leaders see how their work culture is affecting their organizational resiliency and boosting employee engagement.  
  • Advanced Insights – Advanced insights can also help business leaders address critical questions about organizational resiliency and work culture with insight into how work impacts their people and their business.  


The insights for individuals that this app presents are completely personal and private. Personal insights in the app are for your eyes only; neither your manager nor the system administration can see your insights. For more information. 

How it works 

Personal insights and actions in the Viva Insights app are based on an employee’s mailbox data, such as email and calendar data. The insights are derived from data that is already available to you in your mailbox. For example, if you want to determine what plans you made with others, you could review each email in your mailbox. The Insights app simply saves you from this tedious process.
