What have we got … that’s good?
Thinking back at my first year at risual (this month!), I was reflecting on how much of that journey was inextricably linked with COVID19.
Many people have already discussed their highs and lows with honesty and eloquence.
I wanted this brief but thankful blog post to have a slightly different focus, so to bring it together, I’m channelling the sentiment from a scene in the Ron Howard movie Apollo 13 (1995), starring Tom Hanks.
As things go from bad to worse, flight director Gene Kranz (Ed Harris) asks of the ground crew:
“What have we got (on that spacecraft) that’s good ?”
So, in the same spirit, “what have we got that’s good” in my first year at risual?
There are many things to be honest, but the two that really resonate are:
- Whenever I’ve needed help from anywhere across the business, my colleagues, especially my Data Platform Team, have always been there to assist with work matters, and also at those times when I’ve needed a pick-me-up.
- Openness about mistakes, and a genuine willingness to identify and implement actions for continuous improvement.
So thank you to risual, it’s one year down, and many more to follow!
As ever, stay COVID-safe: hand-face-space people 😊.
