In late December 2019 Microsoft released a Live Captions preview within meetings using Microsoft Teams. Currently, this is available only in English but additional languages are expected to be added during 2020.
This is a great feature as it allows participants to keep up with the conversation even if they have difficulties hearing the other speakers or aren’t as proficient in the language being spoken.
Enabling live captions during a meeting is easy, within the meeting click on the ellipsis
From the menu you can then see the option to turn on live captions
The control bar will then change to indicate live captions are now enabled
By default live captions is disabled within meetings but can be enabled, if required this functionality can be permanently disabled in the meeting policy assigned to the user.
