Updating MCSA: Office 365 certification

For those who have earned this certification either on its own or as a part of the MCSA Productivity, for a limited time (until 30th of September 2019) Microsoft offers a transition exam – MS-302. I took the exam today and thought I share my experience as this is the first role-based exams I attempted to pass.

The exam format hasn’t changed much. In my case, it was 48 questions and I was given 180 minutes to answer. Plenty of time even if you mark the questions for a review and go over some of them again. The type of questions is as before so you can expect a combination of multiple choice, select from a list in the right sequence, fill gaps in PowerShell cmdlets and those infamous – choose the best answer without an option to go back. I had 3 case studies in my exam.

I was surprised by the variety of topics covered in the exam. My questions varied from PowerShell cmdlets to configure SharePoint on-prem services, through hybrid workloads configuration, O365 Services configuration ending on non-managed devices support. The questions seems to be more adequate to the role now and (luckily) I haven’t come across one that asks me to list port numbers etc.

All in all, if you have a good working knowledge of all parts of O365 and spend some time going through the configuration settings in all Admin centres, you should be good to go.

Good Luck!
