View Usage Data for Your SharePoint Online Sites!

You can now view usage data for your SharePoint Online sites!

If you are a SharePoint Online site owner you now have the ability to see users that interact with your site. For example these statistics show the number of people who have visited the site and how many time users have visited the site, even which files have received the most views! To view the usage data for your site simply click on the settings cog and then click the ‘Site usage’ option, alternatively you can click ‘Site contents’ in the left-hand menu and then click the ‘Site usage’ option in the navigation option shown at the top.

What can you find on the site usage page?

  • It will show the total number of unique views on the site for the ranges of 7 days, 30 days and 90 days.
  • It will show the total number of views in general on the site again with the ranges of 7 days, 30 days and 90 days.
  •  It will show which files have the most unique views over the past 2 weeks.
  • It will show the top 10 files and pages with the most views in the past 2 weeks.
  • It will show a list of files that have been shared with external users through a sharing link which they are required to log in before they can see the file. It is worth noting however the statistics wont include files that are available to users with guest permissions.
