How to fix error ‘The function requested is not supported.This could be due to CredSSP encryption oracle remediation.’?
In March of 2018 there was a update sent out from Microsoft to fix a vulnerability issue that was impacting RDP sessions and had potential to allow hackers to authenticate against any applications that used CredSSP. When users try to log onto their Virtual Machines they will be confronted by the error message:
“An authentication error has occurred.
The function requested is not supported.
This could be due to CredSSP encryption oracle remediation.

The simple fix for this is to make sure you have downloaded at minimum the March 2018 update released by Microsoft. In the April update however Microsoft continued to work on this by making the error message clearer to users when they fail to connect to a Virtual Machine that is not updated.
