We had an issue in regard to individual Microsoft Exchange Services not running on an Exchange server due to a reboot. In this case, the Exchange Information Store and the Exchange System Attendant services were unable to start with the below error:

Event ID 5003:

Unable to initialize the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service because the clocks on the client and on the server machine are skewed. This may be caused by a time change either in the client or the server machine, and may require a reboot of that machine. Other than that, verify that your domain is properly configured and is currently online.

It was a particularly odd one as when we checked the time between the Exchange Server and the PDC the time was the same.

We managed to resolve this by running the below in CMD

Net time \\PDCEmulator.domain.com /Set

After running the above command, the time on the Machine didn’t change at all but oddly after we restarted the “Microsoft Exchange Active Directory Topology Service” we were then able to start the Information Store Service!
