Lincoln College risual Microsoft Academy Launch

We are extremely excited to announce the launch of our risual Microsoft Academy at Lincoln College. Not only are we over the moon to have partnered with Lincoln College, we are also excited because it is our 10th risual Microsoft Academy across the UK!

The academy was launched on 16 January 2018 and was officially opened by Ursula Lidbetter [Chair of the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership (GLLEP)], Gary Headland [CEO Lincoln College Group], Bhavin Bhagalia [Microsoft], Alun Rogers [Co-Founder and Director at risual Limited] and Tina Jones [Director of risual Education].

The UK faces a growing shortage of digital skills and the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership (GLLEP) has found the opportunity to begin building up a batch of digital and cyber skills throughout the region. Many regional employers attended the launch who showed a great interest in how the partnership between Lincoln College and risual Education will support the local region and the businesses.

risual Education and Lincoln college will work alongside each other to promote various apprenticeships to the local region including, Cyber Security, Software Development, Digital Marketing, and IT. risual Education will provide the most suitable relevant Microsoft Training to ensure the correct skills are being developed at Lincolnshire. The innovative Microsoft Academy has a new IT suite and equipment, where students will undergo training and study.

Lincoln College Group CEO Gary Headland said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for local employers to upskill their existing staff and take on new digitally aware employees to innovate and grow their businesses.

Our network of more than 1,000 local firms across all sectors has been telling us for some time that digitisation and automation of processes is resulting in critical skills shortages in IT, software development, cyber and digital marketing.

This Academy is just the start of our Digital Transformation Programme, which will see us develop a Digital and Professional Skills Centre in Lincoln, with bespoke facilities across the county and abroad. A similar facility based in Riyadh will even provide the opportunity for our higher education engineering lecturers abroad to share their expertise back here in Lincolnshire.

We would encourage all firms who are experiencing skills shortages in these areas and people looking for secure, lucrative and exciting careers in digital to get in touch with us.”

The apprenticeships will be flexibly designed to meet employer needs and linked to industry recognised vendor qualifications (Microsoft MOS, MTA, MCP). As part of the partnership an Azure focused apprenticeship will be offered, to support companies like risual to become proficient in cloud technology.

risual Education Director, Tina Jones said: “We are very excited to be working with Lincoln College Group in the Greater Lincolnshire LEP area. This is a progressive college group doing fantastic training across a number of key growth sectors in the local economy. Their commitment to now driving IT skills growth within the LEP is exceptional.”
