Hi,

I have recently been helping a customer move 2 physical DirectAccess servers from one datacentre to another.

They have 4 HP DL360 G8e servers in a 2 site DirectAccess multisite configuration. As the servers are not heavily loaded at the moment I was able to take one server out of the array and get it shipped to the new datacentre. Once there I was going to configure a new site and migrate the users over by changing GPO assignment (for windows 7 users)

These servers had had the Windows 2012 R2 April update http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2919355 applied but no newer updates and had been up for over 130 days

However when the server was brought up it started blue screening and we was unable to boot into the operating system. So after a while it was decided to rebuild the server. But again after the install and updated to the same level the server started to blue screen after a reboot.

At the stage the customer had a brand new server and they decided to build this an not worry about the failing server. But again once built and patched to the same as the live servers this blue screened. Hp was contacted but they recommended building the servers by a supplied ISO and using new SAS drivers. but this still caused the issue.

I was unable to find anything specific but I stumbled across the following update http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2966870 that is listed as “Your computer experiences a restart loop, or you receive a “Stop 0x7B INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE” stop error”

We applied this update to a fresh build and no problems. We have also updated the other 3 live servers to hopefully stop this issue again.

Regards,

Richard
