Today was the first official day of the Microsoft TechEd Europe 2014 conference (TEE14) which this year is being held at the Fira de Barcelona – Gran Via.
Earlier I attended the Introduction to Microsoft Azure Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) session which included some detail on the following new features that are now available or are coming soon:
- McAfee and CloudLink are now available as security extensions in addition to the existing offerings from Symantec and Trend Micro. CloudLink allows you to manage BitLocker on Azure Virtual Machine VHD files.
- Subnet ACLs.
- Forced Tunnelling.
- Multiple virtual NICs on Azure Virtual Machines.
- ‘G’ Family of Virtual Machines coming soon – this family of Virtual Machines is optimised for data workload and can have up to 32 cores, 448Gb of RAM, and 6.5 TB of SSD storage. This new offering will run on the latest generation of Intel processors.
- Premium Storage will allow 32TB of storage per VM and offer > 50,000 IOPS per VM with less than 1ms read latency.
