Following my previous post on scheduling Lync online meetings using the Lync Web Scheduler I also wanted to show you the new functionality in Exchange 2013 CU1 where Lync Online meetings can be scheduled using Outlook Web App (OWA). There some prereqs for this which are shown below and that this is a new feature in Exchange 2013 with CU1

  • Exchange 2013 with CU1
  • The user scheduling the meeting from OWA needs to be Lync enabled on a Lync 2013 Front End Pool
  • The mailbox of the scheduling user needs to be hosted on Exchange 2013 Server with CU1
  • OAuth authentication and Partnership between the Lync 2013 and Exchange 2013 server must be configured details can be found here
  • Exchange and Lync Autodiscover must be configured

From OWA in the Calendar Tab you can click New Event

From the new event windows that’s displayed you can create an event and then click the “Online Meeting button”

Once you click the “Online Meeting” this will populate the Lync online meeting information into the meeting invite and make it an online meeting

you can then view the online meeting settings as well. (these are set by the the Lync meeting policy for the user )

You can also Join Meetings from OWA by viewing yours meeting and clicking Join Lync Meeting
