Move Transport Database in Exchange 2010

In Exchange 2010 there is a quick and easy way to move your exchange transport database to a different drive without the hassle of manually editing the ‘Edge Transport Config’ , moving the files to new drive and restarting services manually.

The way to this is to run the ‘move-transportdatabase.ps1’. Running this script will create the folder you specify in the switch (which i will show in the example below), move all the necessary files to the new location and restart the transport service for you.

Example of Script

Navigate to Exchange installation directory and then ‘V14Scripts”’ and then run the below script (obviously altering the location in bold to wherever you would like)

Move-TransportDatabase.ps1 –QueueDatabasepath “D:Transport” –QueueDatabaseLoggingPath “D:Transport”
