risual Education’s priority is to drive growth in digital apprenticeships and improve IT skills in education across the UK. This is done through partnerships with Further Education Colleges, using industry standard Microsoft qualifications to enhance apprenticeships in addition to core digital skills for teachers and students in our partner colleges.

Recently, Microsoft have been working on an education and future career opportunities campaign with young refugees in London. As a Microsoft Learning Partner, risual Education are proud to be supporting this inspiring initiative to encourage young refugees to be a part of the digital sector and provide visibility of the different routes into careers in technology for young people living in the UK.

Throughout the workshops Microsoft, risual and other learning partners discussed various topics such as employability and digital skills. The objective was to engage the young refugees and provide traditional career preparation such as practicing for interviews, CV guidance, helping them to build LinkedIn profiles and introducing them to new skills such as coding. All of these inspirational sessions along with many more, provide great insights and useful information for the young people to develop their own current skills ensuring they can improve for the future and have a head start to be building their own career.

Our risual Education team presented their apprenticeship opportunities at Level 3 and how these can be accessed via supportive routes through pre-apprenticeship programmes with partner college CONEL.

This work experience event for young refugees is being run with the aim of extending it into a regular feature of Microsoft’s programme of careers events for young people in the future. With an ambition to embed careers events for young refugees into Microsoft’s ‘Get On’ initiative, designed to help young people access careers in the tech industry.

risual Education’s apprenticeship scheme is a fantastic route into an IT career, our partnership with Further Education Colleges means our apprentices get access to both industry and academic experts, including specialist learning support teams at the College maximising accessibility and inclusivity to apprenticeships.
